Book the lift and loading area

Ask building management whether a lift booking, loading-zone reservation, protective padding, key access or refundable bond is required. Record the permitted moving hours.

Measure the route

Check basement clearance, door widths, lift dimensions, corridor turns and the walking distance from legal parking to the apartment. A passenger lift may not be suitable for larger furniture.

Manage parking

Visitor bays may not permit commercial vehicles or extended loading. Confirm where a vehicle may lawfully stop and whether council restrictions or nearby businesses affect access.

Prepare before the window starts

  • Finish packing before the booked access time.
  • Dismantle only items that can be reassembled safely.
  • Label boxes and keep corridors clear.
  • Notify neighbours where building rules require it.
  • Keep pets and children away from lifts and loading paths.
Before enquiring: collect photos of the loading point, entrance, lift and any stairs or long carries.
